Buying a Luminograph from Vision Picturale includes an activation code for Calibration Flow that grants 1 year of Pro mode at no extra cost (a €118.80 value). The code is delivered by email at purchase, the format is generated by the internal app Blaise (Vision Picturale back office) and tied to your purchase email.
This page describes how the code works, what it unlocks and what happens at the end of the year.
#How it works
Delivery. You buy a Luminograph from Vision Picturale — Luminograph A4 (€449) or Luminograph A3+ (€699). Both models give the same bonus: 1 year of Pro mode included. A few hours to 24 h after the order is confirmed, you receive an email containing your activation code.
Activation. You open Calibration Flow (web or iOS). You go to the Account menu → "Activate a Luminograph code". You enter the code received by email. The app validates against the Vision Picturale database, ties the code to your Picturale Hub account, and activates Pro mode immediately for 12 months.
During the 12 months. You have access to everything Pro mode unlocks:
- Extended quotas: unlimited curves, unlimited presets, 100 HD scans, unlimited generated images, 5 GB of cloud storage.
- Custom chart creation — the custom chart creator to generate charts with the dimensions and patch count you choose. See Create a custom chart.
- Color Venn — the CMYK preview as a Venn diagram, essential to prepare a four-color Aquaprint. See CMYK Venn.
- All the advanced export options.
At the end of the 12 months. Pro mode closes and your account drops to free mode. Your data is kept (curves, presets, scans) but the free-mode quotas apply: you keep the overflow read-only until you delete it or reactivate Pro.
You then have two options: subscribe to the Pro subscription at €9.90/month to keep the extended quotas and the advanced functions, or carry on in free mode with the standard quotas. No obligation to keep paying.
#Why 1 year
The 1-year Pro bonus has two rationales:
It's consistent with the hardware purchase. When you invest €449 or €699 in a Luminograph, you don't want to pay extra in the first year to use the software that goes with it. The 1-year bonus removes that friction.
It gives you time to judge. 12 months is enough to calibrate several processes in real conditions, exploit the Color Venn for CMYK Aquaprints, create several custom charts. If after 1 year Pro mode has proven its worth in your workflow, you take the €9.90/month subscription. Otherwise, you go back to free with no data loss.
And it's simpler than a lifetime unlock. The previous model unlocked certain functions for life via the code — which made the pricing trade-off complicated to manage as the app evolved. The 1-year bonus is legible, consistent with a standard SaaS subscription model and forces no one to pay afterwards if the tool no longer serves a purpose.
#When to avoid it
You're starting out and testing alt-process. Don't buy a Luminograph right away just to get the bonus. Start with free mode, calibrate for a few weeks, see whether you practice regularly. You can always buy the Luminograph later.
You practice in natural light (sun). If your project relies on sun exposure and you have no foreseeable use for a controlled UV source, the Luminograph investment makes no sense. For the advanced Calibration Flow functions alone, the €9.90/month Pro subscription is a better fit.
#If you lose the code
Email lost, code never activated. Contact support@picturale.app with your Luminograph proof of purchase (VP invoice, order number). Support finds your code in the Blaise app and sends it back to you. Lead time: 24 to 48 business hours.
Code activated but you can't remember which account. You sign in to
picturale.appYou want to transfer the code to someone. The code is tied to an account at the moment of first activation. It is not transferable once activated. If you sell your Luminograph secondhand, the new buyer cannot reactivate the code. For legitimate cases (career change, inheritance), contact support.

#Founder's notes
The model evolved between late 2025 and May 2026. At launch, the Luminograph code unlocked, for life, advanced functions distinct from Pro mode. It was commercially clever but conceptually complicated: we had to keep explaining why "Pro" and "advanced functions" were two independent tiers.
The current simplified model — a single Pro tier at €9.90/month, 1 year included with the purchase of a Luminograph — is more legible for the user and fairer commercially. The Luminograph stays valued (12 months of Pro = €118.80, about 25% of the A4 price) and the software ecosystem aligns on a classic SaaS model with no catch.
#The test
Buy a Luminograph (if you don't already have one). Receive the code by email. Activate it in Calibration Flow. Check that:
- Your account shows Pro mode active with an expiry date 12 months out.
- You can create a custom chart (the function is active).
- You can open the Color Venn in the Negative module when you pick CMYK mode.
- Your quotas show 5 GB of cloud storage (vs 300 MB on free).
- On another device signed in to the same account, the Pro status is also active (sync via Picturale Hub SSO).
These five points confirm the code is correctly activated.
